Starboard 159

The SB 159, that succeeded the SB 158, has another scoop-rocker progress, and the nose doesn't end as high in the air. According to the ISAF the volume of the SB 159 is 156 liters, and even if the measurements for the last part of the board are hardly distinguishable from the 158, it is after all a somewhat better board. Related to the 158 you can sail the 159 more aggressively on the reach without flowing out of the water. And in spite of the somewhat lower nose, the 159 isn't neck-breaking to sail fast on a broad course. In fact the board is better - coming from behind - to skim over the chop than the 158.

The SB 159 is a very tough board, and it's also a little heavier than the 158. It's certainly not a big problem, but like the 158 you might chose keep an eye on the enlargement of the holes for the fin bolts.

The 159 also likes the Deboichet R13, and because of the very fine controllability the best thing is probably to rake the fin forward with 8 cm (called rake +8, that is the leading edge approx. 4 cm raking backward relative to vertical).

Generally the Starboard 159 is perhaps a little easier so sail and to control than the contemporary F2 FX 100 III - that in turn is able to sail a little deeper and more "free".
